Tim Horton was a Canadian professional ice hockey player who played in the National Hockey League (NHL) from 1949 to 1974. He is best known for his time with the Toronto Maple Leafs, with whom he won four Stanley Cup championships.

Horton was born on January 12, 1930, in Cochrane, Ontario, Canada. He was a defenseman known for his physical play and shot-blocking ability. He played a total of 1,445 NHL games, scoring 115 goals and 403 assists.

In addition to his successful hockey career, Horton also founded the popular Canadian coffee and donut chain Tim Hortons in 1964. The company has since grown to become one of the largest fast-food chains in Canada and has expanded to other countries.

Tim Horton tragically died in a car accident in 1974 at the age of 44. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1977 and his legacy continues through both his hockey career and the Tim Hortons brand.
